Residency 4.0

Over the first three years of the return of the residency program to Pine Rest, a recurring set of obstacles became clear.  Going into the fourth year, this list of common issues was compiled and examined.  In most cases it was a lack of education or communication by the staff at the root of these difficulties.  In collaboration with Melissa Giles, a unit tutorial for new residents was created.  This guide seeks to ensure each incoming class of residents will have the best orientation to the floor possible, keeping the focus on patient care, not answering pagers.

This original presentation was re-created to account for the switch to Epic EHR. As part of a hospital orientation, I presented this lesson to all 2018 first-year residents on July 3, 2018.
